SUPER-Grad Fellowship Program Receives Major Funding Award from Chancellor's Office
September 15, 2016 - Chancellor Edwards' office has awarded a grant of $588,812 to expand the Summer Undergraduate Pathway to Excellence at Rutgers Graduate Fellowship Program (SUPER-Grad).The SUPER-Grad program provides fellowships for alumni of summer resaerch programs who attend Rutgers for their doctoral studies. Dr. David Shreiber and Dr. Evelyn Erenrich are the PI's of the grant.
Cellular Bioengineering REU renewed by the NSF
September 9 ,2016 - The REU Site in Cellular Bioengineering was renewed for another 3 years with a grant of $412,491 from the NSF.
Rutgers welcomes 7 scholars for 2016 REU
May 30, 2016 - Seven undergraduates were welcomed to Rutgers for the 2016 REU program. The students hailed from schools big and small, and from as far as Nebraksa and Puerto Rico.
Record number of REU students present at 2015 BMES
October 8, 2015 - Seven scholars from the summer 2015 cohort traveled to Tampa, FL to present their research: Marleny Arones, Rebecca Drake, Josh Leipheimer, Adrianna Lebron-Garcia, Robert Mines, Ilse Valencia, and Jorge Zhingre-Sanchez.
June 2, 2016: A paper authored by 2014 REU participant Michelle Graham appears in the journal Annals of Biomedical Engineering. Michelle worked in the lab of Professor Boustany.
New Scholars Welcomed
May 29, 2015 - A new cohort of 10 students from across the country was welcomed into the REU in Cellular Bioengineering.
February 25, 2016: A paper authored by 2011 REU participant Chris Lowe (now a PhD student in BME at Rutgers) and 2014 REU participant Matt Grota appears in the journal ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering. Chris and Matt worked in the lab of Professor Shreiber.

October 22, 2014 - The Cellular Bioengineering REU sponsored poster from four of the 2014 participants - Alice Chen Liaw (advised by Francois Berthiaume), James Jackson (advised by Joseph Freeman), Kevin Smith (advised by Prabhas Moghe), and Matthew Grota (advised by David Shreiber). In addition, 2013 REU student Stephanie Knowlton presented work from her home institution, and 2010 participant and current Rutgers BME PhD student Christopher Lowe won a best poster award for his graduate research.

October 23, 2014 - Dr. Shreiber gave a presentation entitled ""Boot Camp Training in Cellular Bioengineering to Accelerate Research Immersion for REU Participants" at the BMES conference in San Antonio.

May 30, 2014: A new cohort of 12 students from across the country was welcomed into the REU in Cellular Bioengineering.
September 28, 2013: A trio of REU students – Stephanie Knowlton (advised by David Shreiber), Jose Hawayek-Carrera (advised by Martin Yarmush and David Shreiber), and Daniel Tekverk (advised by Jeffrey Zahn) – traveled to Seattle to present their research at the annual BMES meeting.
July 31, 2013: The Cellular Bioengineering REU students celebrated their summer-long research experience at the end-of-summer symposium. Students presented posters that summarized their research and pitched business plans to their fellow REU students from partner programs in Physics, Green Energy Technologies, Structured Organic Particulate Systems, International Environmental Sciences, Pharmacy, and the umbrella Research in Science and Engineering (RiSE) program.

December 8, 2011 : A paper co-authored by 2010 REU participant Kevin Trout appears in the journal Annals of Biomedical Engineering. Kevin worked in the lab of Professor Langrana.
Best Poster Award!
November 11, 2011 : Congratulations to Izmarie Poventud-Fuentes, who won a Best Poster award at the recent Annnual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students. Izmarie was a 2011 REU participant working with Professors Moghe and Roth.

July 1, 2010 : The first month of our inaugural program has been busy and exciting, including Cellular Bioengineering Boot Camp, immersion into research, weekly seminar and a joint summer picnic.

April 27, 2010 : The newly established Project AGER -- Advancing Graduate Education at Rutgers -- is sponsoring a soft skills workshop for near-peer research mentors on May 13th from 9:00-11:30 in BCC 120. This will be followed by a summer program orientation for faculty and near-peer mentors from 12-1 pm in BME-116.
